Siddarth

Siddharth is a Indian actor,playback singer and screenplay writer. After his business management studies, Siddharth chose to work in film making and worked as assistant director before making debut in the Tamil movie Boys. In the subsequent years, he had worked in many Telugu, Hindi and Tamil movies.

Education

Siddharth was born as Siddharth Suryanarayanan in Chennai. He studied at DAV Boy's Senior Secondary School,Chennai and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Delhi. He got his B.Com (Honors) degree from Kirori Mal College, New Delhi. Siddharth was popularly known as "Sidy" in school and college, and was part of the reputed theatre group of the college The Players. He was also president of the college's debating society and attended the World Debating Championships. He completed his MBA in 2001 from S.P Jain Institute of Management & Research, Mumbai. He was declared "CNBC Manager of the Year" in 1999.

Film career

After his MBA, Siddharth landed the role of assistant director for Mani Ratnam's Kannathil Muthamittal. Screenplay writer Sujatha recommended his name to Shankar for casting in his then upcoming movie Boys. The movie was a moderate success in Tamil but the dubbed version in Telugu gave Siddharth an opening in the Telugu industry.

Siddharth worked for Prabhu Deva in the film Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana that gave his first filmfare best actor award. In 2005, Siddhu also ventured into the writing forum as well as singing forum as he wrote the screenplay for his Telugu film Chukkallo Chandrudu directed by Siva Kumar and sang as a playback singer. Siddharth debuted in Bollywood as part of the critically acclaimed Rang De Basanti which starred Aamir Khan as a lead. Siddharth received the Star Screen Debut Award for his role as Karan Singhania in the movie. Siddharth's next Telugu film Bommarillu received critical acclaim as well as box office success. He worked with director Vishal Bhardwaj and Oscar winning Lensman Guillermo Navarro on a short film titled "Blood Brothers" which screened at the Toronto film festival.

After the above average grossing "Aata" in 2007, Siddharth took a sabbatical and did not have a release for 20 months. In 2009, Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam directed by debutant Dolly Kishore oppsite Tamanna received good response from the critics and the audiences. Siddharth has signed to play the lead role in debutant director Anand Ranga's Oye and is awaiting the release of his second Bollywood movie Striker.
